What, besides Rogaine, can help stop hair loss in young male, whether due to stress or early balding?

This person is 20, not noticeably bald anywhere, and first started noticing hair thinning last winter. They were seen by a medical doctor who wasn't completely sure whether it was just due to stress or could be early male pattern baldness. He had him start using Rogaine. He is working on the stress. Is there anything else that he can do/take that would help his hair/scalp health? Should he be seen by a dermatologist, or is there no way a doctor can know for sure whether this is stress-related or the male pattern baldness?

Try multi vitamins sweetie, my hair almost fell out from aneamia but its grown back thicker now so maybe get him to have a blood test just to make sure its not that first, and there are herbal treatments that are for nails and hair, try those because they helped my mum when she lost her hair during chemo :)
